Now that March is here, the weather is cooling, and our wardrobe regulars are rotating. The colours around us are becoming earthy and warm, and our bright summer pieces may not be appropriate any more. However, we don’t believe in packing away your summer wardrobe completely – what a waste! Here are some tips for styling them in the cooler weather.
Layer Up
Your flowy summer dresses still have life! Simply layer with leggings or tights underneath, and a jacket on top. This way you’ll stay warm, while still getting the most out of your wardrobe year-round.
Try our Classic 7/8 leggings with lace under your long summer dresses for extra warmth.
Alternatively, our Button Up Drape Dress looks great simply with a jacket!
Play with Silhouettes
Another way to wear a maxi dress or skirt is to play around with the silhouettes of the look as a whole. Pair a long flowing skirt with a tight-fitting sweater or shirt on top. This can either be cropped, or tucked in to the skirt.
This printed maxi skirt paired with a cream fitted sweater will keep you warm and nail the autumn colour scheme.
Be Bold
The final tip to transition your summer maxi dresses and skirts to autumn is to be bold. Autumn fashion is all about experimenting and combining different styles into one that is personally yours. Just because it is cooling down doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your love for a feminine piece. Try on different layers, like blazers, scarves, and cardigans, and don’t be afraid to swap your sandals for a ballet flat, boot, or heel.
Our Floral Tie Back Maxi Dress is a great example of a feminine pattern that would look great with a felted black hat, leather jacket and boots!
